“Gotta Do More, Gotta be more” – Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Sitting in front of Mahatma Gandi’s statue, I remembered words I heard sometimes in past

“Gotta do More, Gotta be more”

Like me, Gandi is an inspiration to everyone loving peace, freedom and harmony. And the statue represents how a young lawer transformed to an energetic advocate of peace and freedom for his entire life. It was an incident that triggered Mohan Das Karamchand Gandi’s heart to move to his homeland and fight against British. And here my friends ‘ Fight with peace’ or ‘ Fight without violence’.

It happened when Mohandas Karamchand was travelling in a train’s first class with a valid class ‘A’ ticket. With discrimination, he was forced to move to the third class. On denial, he was forced out of train. From that day, Mohandas adopted active non violent protest and succeeded to overthrow British rule in India, using the same strategy (of non violent protest). Designated as ‘Mahatma’, he is one of the asset of the region and symbol of peace and freedom.

To get the inspirational site of Gandi in Pietrmaritzburg, I passed through Piet relief, Vryheid, Dundee and Escort. After Escort, I enjoyed the ride downhill to Pietrmaritzburg. It was about 9 Km downhill and difficult to control the bicycle by the brakes. Though, it was fun.The first stay in South Africa after Swaziland was on 25th of August. I stayed at Piet relief passing through around 30 Km of jungle on R33 highway. Moving ahead on 28th I got a lift from a bicycle champion of 1990, it was strange to meet him on road coincidentally. It was interesting though I feel sorry to forget his name.
gotta-do-more3I was in Caravan Park in 30th, to spend a night. The owner there didn’t let me to stay there. Rather, he offered me to camp at his place. I accepted and enjoyed. Early morning the next day, he had invited some people from media so that I could express myself and confer the message of world peace, harmony and environment protection. I felt delighted with his surprise; also I am thankful for a great day at his place.

On my way to Pietermaritzburg, I felt very glad in every step. I found a lot of friendly and encouraging people. I enjoyed a group of young energetic men who also offered me a lift. It was motivating for me though I didn’t take it because the way was not so tough. I am greatly thankful to Mr Pramod Nath Gongal for his support and company. I am also indebted to Mr. Ramesh Nath Gongal for his continuous support. I would like to thank both of them from the bottom of my heart.

And after Pietermaritzburg, and Mahatma Gandi, I heard the windy roads of South Africa calling me again. Thanking everyone for happy and generous support for all I met on my way, I am enthused and moving to my next destination. I am moving in the windy roads of South Africa, and here I cite Blackorchid–

“Winds rowing, Winds blowing
Gotta do more, gotta be more”
