HIDE AND SEEK WITH THE RAIN- Towards Nigeria

After a memorable farewell by Lisa didi Allan, I left Bastos on 21st June to my hotel at Kamitoeta where I was living before the problem arose. Next day it was Saturday, I cleaned my belongings, packed my bag, filled my bottle with water I need and my mind with the route I need to travel.

Despite of having some trouble finding N4 highway which I needed to pedal, I started my journey early morning of gloomy Sunday, 23rd of June. Keeping gloomy aside it was perfect day for cycling on Sunday because of less traffic, no pollution and top of all there were other people pedaling with me enjoying their weekend cycling.

Since several days, worrying had become my second narration. Likewise this time I was bewailing a little about the rain and tempting my legs not to take any breaks. It was 10:30 in the morning I was very much hungry and tired after pushing myself 40km without a rest and food. I was stopped by the rain at a town called Obala where I had my dinner and because the heavy rain did not stop, I had to stop for rest of the day there.

Early morning of 24th of June I left Obala and like previous day the rain was expected, I managed my equipments as to protect from the rain so that I should not worry about my belongings travelling continuously on rain. Rain was drizzling over my body; greenery along the road was making me forget the entire stiffness I had; I even removed my goggles to feel the freshness of the visual impressions I had. I was blessed to observe heaven here on Earth. But just after I reached Bafia that entire heavenly thing got shattered by the rain heavy as hell and I had to get nestled the night of 24th on Bafia.

The next day clouds up in the sky was like water full of balloons ready to pounder and below the land was like heavenly way, full of eye catching scenery, plough man guiding bull on the farm, smooth road way with friendly people with curious eyes staring me as and it was fascinating when one of the gentleman said I was like a white unicorn galloping on the road. I was gratified. Suddenly water full of balloon burst and I stopped galloping and waited 2 hours under the cottage of local farmers. At the meantime I became normal human being, who is not a unicorn anymore galloping with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead but a guy named FURTEMBA SHERPA with his cart pedaling for the sake of pouring some peace and harmony in the world. I was still satisfied because I got roof during the rain, friendly people to share my deeds and most of all the beauty of nature. Then finally, smooth road way and clear sky whispered me to get along with my travel and smiling faces of people showed me the way and after a short while I reached Makenen- a small town .

Makenen is like a small hill station with spiral road ways with ups and down I was not fully enjoying that road way because for the first time the break oil of my cycle has finished which was making pedaling difficult. Finally, after pedaling 366km from the Yaoundé I reached Bamenda, also known as Abakwa town, city in northwestern Cameroon and capital of the North West Region on 26th of June.

Rain and some hide and seek with rain, and I stepped to my next destination Nigeria. I will be updating soon.
